Oxford’s win over crosstown rival Lafayette carried over to the inaugural Mississippi-Alabama Challenge Friday and Saturday night in the OHS gym. The Lady Chargers defeated the visiting teams from Alabama convincingly to improve to 11-2 on the season. The Lady Chargers beat Oxford (Ala.) on Friday 58-37 and then trounced LaFayette 86-20 on Saturday night to wrap up a 3-0 week.
Oxford coach Shayne Linzy was able to play his entire team, especially in Saturday’s game, which was a positive moving forward into divisional play. (December 17, 2012, Page 2B)
