Freeze, staff members get contract extensions

A successful first season at Ole Miss that culminated with a berth to the BBVA Compass Bowl next month has led to a new contract for coach Hugh Freeze and increases for his staff.

Ole Miss Athletics Director Ross Bjork announced details for the new contracts Thursday and less than two weeks after starting discussions with Freeze’s agent on an extension. Freeze will now make $2 million as a base salary, up $500,000 compared to his original deal, while the pool of money for assistant coaches was raised 10 percent. Freeze still has incentives in his contract, such as earning $100,000 per SEC win starting with the second victory. (December 14, 2012, Page 6A)
