There were some minor changes experienced by all three area high schools in the latest re-classification by the MHSAA.
Lafayette, Oxford and Water Valley all remained in Class 4A, 5A and 3A respectively and all three stayed pat in their respective numbered regions and divisions. The changes come from the entrance of some new schools that will compete against the Commodores, Chargers and Blue Devils.
Lafayette will take on two new members — Ripley and Byhalia — in Division 2-4A for football and other sports. Lewisburg left the division after moving up to 5A, while North Pontotoc dropped to 3A. Senatobia, Tunica-Rosa Fort and New Albany remained with Lafayette in the division.
Lafayette Athletics Director Anthony Hart was fine with the way the MHSAA organized the latest divisions. (December 4, 2012, Page 8)
