Robinson, Tigers too much for LHS

MACON — Lafayette’s run as the MHSAA state champion in Class 4A came to an end this past Friday night at the hands of the team many feel will win it all. In a game that felt more like a 4A North Half title contest rather than a second-round matchup, both defenses and special teams units dictated the pace.

Unfortunately for the Commodores, it was Noxubee County’s offense that made one big play to decide things in a 14-0 victory for the Tigers, who improved to 13-0 and advanced to play Itawamba AHS in the semifinals Friday.

After holding Noxubee County’s Darrell Robinson to just 1 yard on his first five carries, Lafayette’s defense gave up an 83-yard burst by Robinson that resulted in a touchdown on a play called out of the Wishbone. (November 12, 2012, Page 4B)
