Rebels cruise past MVSU Devils in opener

The Ole Miss men’s basketball team officially began their 2012-13 campaign Friday at the C.M. “Tad” Smith Coliseum with a 93-57 win over Mississippi Valley State.

The Rebels were never in danger of losing as they took an 8-5 lead at the 15:37 mark of the first half and never looked back. The Rebels gradually improved their advantage throughout the half and eventually took a commanding 44-21 score into halftime.

During the second half, Ole Miss kept up the offensive display jumping out to a 56-26 lead with 16:47 left in the game.

With the Rebels in control for most of the night, head coach Andy Kennedy took Friday’s game as an opportunity to play a lot of guys and see just what he had to work with as 13 of the 15 players saw substantial minutes. (November 12, 2012, Page 6B)
