All four of Oxford’s middle school basketball teams knocked off South Panola on the road Thursday.
Oxford’s 7th-grade girls won 11-7. Grace Ann Joyce led the team with two points, while Maddison Crosby and Christina Owens each chipped in two points apiece. The eighth-grade girls also won 16-12. Monya Baskins had a team-high 10 points, while Ann Marie Blackmon scored the other six points. Oxford’s seventh-grade boys improved to 5-0 on the year with a 31-14 victory. Coach Marlon Bell said Naziah Stamps, Jameel Thompson, Unique Gipson and Jeran Brown each had good all-around games.
Oxford’s eighth-grade boys improved to 5-1 with a 24-12 victory over South Panola. Brown credited A.J. Gable, D.T. Thompson and Torrey Gordon with good all-around games.
Oxford has a busy slate of games ahead with games at Coldwater (Dec. 4) and at Pontotoc (Dec.6) before the eighth-grade boys host a six-team round robin tournament on Dec. 8. (November 30, 2012, Page 7A)
