Lafayette boys start season in winning fashion

The Lafayette boys soccer team got their season started on the right foot Tuesday, defeating Grenada 3-0 on the road. Michael Hudgins scored all three goals for the ‘Dores, while Jason Reveles contributed an assist. Jordan Willms had five saves to earn the shutout in goal.

“Austin Fikes set the tempo on offense by controlling possession and distributing the ball. Many of our kids stepped up and played very well,” LHS coach Gene Anderson said. “Garrett Carter, Ivan Lopez and Jorge Tapia are new defenders and stepped up to the challenge.”

Lafayette will host Tishomingo County on Friday. The boys will kick off at 7:30 p.m. (November 14, 2012, Page 7)
