Lady Chargers blast Corinth

Oxford won its first girls basketball game of the season Tuesday with a 75-24 win over Corinth in the Tupelo Tip-Off Classic.

Alexus Malone led the Lady Chargers with 26 points, six rebounds and two blocks. Janesha Johnson had 13 points, Amber Sisk finished with seven while three players — Aliyah Herod, Bre Pettis and Kyla Malone — finished with six points.

OHS coach Shayne Linzy said it was another overall good effort for a team that needs to continue to show improvement each game. Oxford’s next chance at becoming a better team comes Thursday at home against Grenada. Action begins with a junior varsity girls game at 5 p.m. (November 7, 2012, Page 7)
