Richard “Dickie” Scruggs to be released on bail

A federal judge has ruled in favor of former attorney Richard “Dickie” Scruggs in his request to be release from prison on bail pending his appeal of what has become known as the Scruggs II judicial bribery case.

Scruggs was sentenced to seven years in prison to run concurrent with a previous five-year sentence from Scruggs I, where Scruggs pleaded guilty in 2007 to attempting to bribe another judge in an unrelated lawsuit against him. (November 26, 2012, Page 1)
