Area players named to MACJC all-state teams

Former Water Valley standout C.J. Jackson was named to the MACJC All-State football team as a member of the first team. Joining Jackson, a linebacker who plays at ICC, on the team from the area is former Oxford High standout Demarcus Pegues, who was named honorable mention at linebacker. Pegues just completed his sophomore season as a member of the NWCC Rangers.

Tyler Jackson, a former standout from Lafayette, was named to the second team as place-kicker. Jackson just completed his freshman season at ICC.

The Rangers finished the season 7-2 overall and 5-1 in the MACJC North Division, while the Indians finished the year 6-3. (November 13, 2012, Page 7)
