QB Manziel could give Rebels several problems

It doesn’t take an offensive guru like Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze to realize the Rebels will have their hands full this weekend with Texas A&M and specifically quarterback Johnny Manziel coming to town.

The freshman diced up Arkansas last weekend to the tune of 557 total yards, setting a Southeastern Conference record in the process and breaking a mark once held by former Ole Miss standout Archie Manning.

What makes the newly anointed SEC Offensive Player of the Week so scary for the Rebels isn’t just his ability to sling the ball around the field.

In the 58-10 thumping, Manziel not only completed 29 of 38 passes for 453 yards and three touchdowns, but the Kerrville, Texas native also rushed for 104 yards and one touchdown on 14 carries.

This season Manziel has completed 87 of 124 passes for 1,094 yards and 10 touchdowns without throwing an interception while also rushing for a team-best 366 yards and six scores. (October 2, 2012, Page 6)
