The Chargers eighth-grade football team ended the season with a 41-8 win over Senatobia on Tuesday at Bobby Holcomb Field.
Jarkel Joiner had a 30-yard touchdown reception from Ben Bianco. A.J. Gable followed that up with a 25-yard touchdown reception. Bianco added to the Chargers’ lead with a 5-yard TD run followed with a 2-point run from Gable. K.J. Gipson had a 20-yard TD reception, Jaquavious Lloyd had a 40-yard TD reception while Torey Gordon had a 15-yard TD reception. Jonathon Tyler added an extra point. Bianco finished the game 12-for-18 for 188 yards and five touchdowns. Thomas Allen was 1-for-1 for 40 yards and a touchdown. D.Q. Thomas and Tay Reed each had interceptions.
“This team was a joy to coach. They worked hard everyday to improve and played with awesome intensity. They were a really good team that pulled together and will only continue to get better in the future,” Oxford coach Perry Swindall said. “This is a special group that will be very interesting and fun to watch in years to come. I want to thank our parents for their support of the team and for those special moms that were always there to help. This year was really a success in every way.” (October 26, 2012, Page 7A)
