The Oxford Bass Club recently completed its year end competition with its annual Classic held at Sardis Lake on Sept. 22-23. The club is made up of anglers from Lafayette, Tate, Pontotoc, Yalobusha, Marshall, Union and Tippah counties. Thirty-four teams competed in six tournaments for Angler of the Year, Big Fish of the Year and Annual Classic winners.
“Garrett and Garrett,” a father and son team, won Angler of the Year. The duo also won the Big Fish competition with a catch of 7.12 pounds. Classic winners included Simmons/Simmons (first, 28.8), Briscoe/Briscoe (second, 23.4), Peking/Ellis (third, 21.6) and Myers/DeFranco (fourth, 20.8). (October 4, 2012, Page 10)
