BLOG: It was far from Lafayette’s best performance of the year, but the Commodores bounced back from last week’s overtime loss by knocking off Region 2-4A foe Senatobia 23-7 at William L. Buford Field on Friday.
Commodore quarterback Brandon Mack paced the home squad by scoring on a 1-yard keeper mid-way through the first quarter, a 28-yard pass-and-catch to Colby Terrell at the 5:10 mark of the second quarter and a 9-yard scamper with 9:34 remaining in the game.
Kicker Ryan Holland also factored into Lafayette’s scoring, converting 2 of 3 PAT attempts while also tucking a 27-yard field goal attempt just inside the right upright.
Lafayette’s lone defensive blunder came minutes into the game, when Senatobia running back Tevin Wooten took a delayed handoff, broke a tackle at the line of scrimmage and raced 85 yards down the middle of the field for the Warriors’ lone score.
Lafayette (8-2 overall, 3-1 Region 2-4A) will conclude its regular season next Thursday at North Pontotoc, while Senatobia (3-6, 1-3) will wrap up its season at home Friday against Tunica-Rosa Fort.
