Lafayette football splits pair of games

The Lafayette ninth-grade Commodores lost 34-32 to Grenada on Monday night, while the junior varsity Commodores defeated the Chargers 24-14.

Tyrell Price scored the first touchdown for the ninth-graders (3-3 overall) on a 4-yard run. Price later had two more touchdowns on runs of 35 and 3 yards.

Quin Jones had a 45-yard reception for a touchdown while Brelynn Hudgins returned an interception 30 yards for a touchdown. Eric Lewis had two touchdowns in the junior varsity game. Landon Busby scored a rushing touchdown, while Hunter Bishop caught a 20-yard touchdown from Devon Thomas.

The ninth-grade returns to action Monday night at home against New Albany at 5:30 p.m., while the junior varsity travels to play at Tupelo. (October 10, 2012, Page 7)
