Ole Miss basketball coach Andy Kennedy garnered his first verbal pledge for the 2012-2013 signing class Sunday night from a highly-recruited center in Piney Woods’ Dwight Coleby. The 6-foot-9, 220-pound standout announced his decision via Twitter saying, “I am going to Ole Miss” followed by a face smiling #kooldeal..”
Coleby chose the Rebels over Memphis as well as offers from Mississippi State, Southern Miss and Georgia. Coleby visited Ole Miss officially Oct. 5-7 when the football team hosted Texas A&M. He was scheduled to make his decision public this past Thursday, but he delayed it twice. Rivals.com has Coleby rated as the 146th best player in the nation.
Coleby, who is originally from the Bahamas, said prior to his visit to Oxford that he was looking forward to seeing how he fit in with the players. (October 15, 2012, Page 4B)
