Cougars can’t catch up to WVHS

WATER VALLEY — Playing without the like of E.J. Bounds, Jeoffrey Gordon and Taylor Edwards hasn’t seemed to slow the Water Valley football team.

The Blue Devils used a fast start, scoring on its first five possessions, to knock off Region 2-3A foe South Pontotoc 47-20 Friday night at Bobby Clark Field.

WVHS running back Jarard Williams opened the scoring on the night with a 34-yard run, before quarterback Jonathan Kent, filling in for Bounds, connected on passes of 38 and 20 yards to T.T. Person and Dillon Zinn on back-to-back possessions to take a 21-6 lead. (October 8, 2012, Page 5B)
