A second crash victim from this morning’s wreck on Highway 6 has died, according to Lafayette County Coroner Rocky Kennedy.
The wreck occurred at about 11 a.m. this morning on Highway 6 near near Highway 7. A female was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the same vehicle, a Toyota Corolla was airlifted out. Kennedy confirmed the death to the EAGLE at 3:22. Names are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Oxford Police Department’s Capt. James Owen said a Chevy Tahoe SUV, traveling east crossed the median, for unknown reasons, and hit a Toyota Corolla traveling west near the 18th Street overpass.
The driver of the SUV was transported via ambulance to Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi for observation and moderate injuries.
Owen said the wreck is under investigation.
