Tigers too much for WVHS to tame

CHARLESTON — Water Valley’s first big test of the 2012 season produced some positive results but the final result wasn’t what coach Brad Embry and his staff were hoping for in the end.

Charleston, the defending MHSAA Class 3A state champions, delivered the Blue Devils their first loss of the season with a 35-21 triumph at Tiger Stadium on Friday night. Water Valley (4-1) had some shining moments in the contest, especially in the first half, but not enough to garner the win.

The Blue Devils matched the Tigers blow for blow the first 24 minutes and even led, 14-13, before CHS ended the half with a 1-yard touchdown pass. (September 17, 2012, Page 2B)
