Sports Blog: PONTOTOC — The Lafayette Commdores’ football team used dominant showings on both sides of the ball Friday night to defeat Pontotoc 41-6 at “The Hollow.”
In its first true road test of the season, the LHS (5-1) defense forced Warriors’ quarterback Marcus Reed into throwing four interceptions with the last one of the night being returned 100 yards by Brandon Mack for a touchdown with 3:19 to play in the third quarter to make the score 35-0.
On the ground, the ‘Dores used a staple of running backs to sustain drives and rip off yardage.
D.K. Buford scored on runs of 5 and 13 yards, while Chequille Williams (3 yards), Tavon Joiner (7) and J.D. Driver (10) also added rushing touchdowns for the LHS offense.
