A quick glance at Ole Miss’ depth chart shows only one true freshman atop his position: Issac Gross.
For the third consecutive week, the 6-foot-1, 254-pound Gross is penciled in as the Rebels’ starter at nose tackle ahead of senior Gilbert Pena and redshirt freshman Woodrow Hamilton.
Although the former South Panola Tiger was considered one of the state’s top players out of high school, Gross wasn’t expecting anything to be handed to him once he arrived in Oxford.
In addition, Gross, like head coach Hugh Freeze, isn’t one to make too much of what a depth chart says. (September 14, 2012, Page 7A)
