Ty Hensley isn’t having what you might consider a typical summer for a recent high school graduate.
While most are either applying for jobs at the local burger hut or getting a jump start on college, the Edmond, Okla., native has spent the better part of his summer negotiating with the New York Yankees.
The Ole Miss signee was one of three Rebels drafted in the first round of June’s Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft and has until Friday at 4 p.m. CT to sign with the Bronx Bombers.
Should Hensley not sign, the hard-throwing right-hander will retain his amateur status and will almost assuredly push for a spot as a Rebel starter. (July 10, 2012, Page 6)
