Brownlee, Hoggard joining coaching ranks

The coaching tree from Oxford’s 2005 state championship baseball team has sprouted a few new branches.

Recently, former Charger standouts Brent Brownlee and Cade Hoggard wrapped up their college careers and have joined the prep coaching ranks.

Brownlee just hung up his cleats after a five-year career at Mississippi State and is headed to join the football and baseball staffs at the new Germantown High in Madison.

Hoggard recently concluded a two-year apprenticeship as a graduate assistant for Mike Kinnison at Delta State and is already helping coach Olive Branch’s summer league team.

Hoggard said the process began around December when he started to send out letters to various programs in the state. While he wasn’t sure where he wanted to coach, he was sure on one thing; Hoggard wanted to coach at the high school level and help impact players’ development from an early age. (June 22, 2012, Page 7A)
