BLOG — Nine Oxford Chargers and four members of the Lafayette Commodores were named to the Mississippi Association of Coaches All-State tennis teams Wednesday.In order for a player to be chosen, they must either be a state champion or runner-up at their position in the MHSAA State Individual Tennis Championship.
Representing Oxford on the All-State team were Will Swindoll, Robert Nance, Andrew Mullen and Baxter Elliott for boys doubles. Swindoll and Elliott won the state championship, defeating Nance and Mullen in the process. Kara Rose and Embrey Inman, who finished second in the state tournament, were named for girls doubles, Judson Watson and Cari Hansen were named for mixed doubles as runner-up, while Quinn Ellilott rounded out the selections as a runner-up in boys singles.
Lafayette was represented by the mixed doubles champions of Mallory Davis and Barron Pruitt and the girls doubles champions of Lauren Cullen and Ashley Smith. (June 6, 2012)
