Emme Brown and Lilli-Grace Mitchell represented the L-O-U well last weekend when they both earned first in their respective events at the 2012 Region 8 Xcel Gymnastics Championship held in Jackson on April 27.
Brown, a 12-year-old student in the Lafayette School District, was named the silver level vault champion with a score of 9.8.
Mitchell, a 10-year-old Oxford native that is home schooled, scored a 9.725 to claim the silver level uneven bar championship.
Brown and Mitchell competed with Tupelo-based Elite II Gymnastics, which placed fourth as a team. (May 4, 2012, Page 7A)
