Barnabas Kirui and Sheryl Chatfield were the two overall winners of the 2012 Double Decker 10K run held Saturday in Oxford. Kirui, a former standout at Ole Miss, finished first with a time of 30 minutes, 43.59 seconds. Chatfield, also of Oxford, was the top female finisher with a time of 40:51.
Sean Anthony and Ty Gillespie were the second and third male finishers. Anthony finished with a 36:03. Gillespie ran the course in 37:40.
Christine Rockey was the second overall female with a 41:31, while Bev Thompson was third with a 42:17. Both Rockey and Thompson are from Oxford.
The top Male Masters in the 10 K was Kevin Jenkins with a 40:56. Kari Mullins of Oxford was the top Female Masters in the 10K with a 51:01.
Larry Hankin was the top male Grand Master with a 41:22, while Paula McLarty of Oxford was the top female Grand Master with a 51:51. (May 1, 2012, Page 7)
