WV’s Phillips finding role with Miss. State

A multitude of errors, coupled with a four-spot in the sixth inning was too much for the Ole Miss softball team to overcome Sunday.

The visiting Mississippi State Lady Bulldogs capped their first sweep of Ole Miss since 2008 by claiming a 10-3 victory at the Ole Miss Softball Complex.

Aiding the Lady Bulldogs (25-19 overall, 8-14 in the Southeastern Conference) was a player that’s very familiar to the region.

Pinch running for Erin Nesbit was former Oxford EAGLE Player of the Year and Water Valley standout Ashley Phillips, who scored the first of four runs in the fourth inning. (April 16, 2012, Page 8)
