Oxford rallied from a 7-1 deficit to defeat Ridgeland 8-7 in eight innings in the second round of the MHSAA’s Class 5A playoffs Friday night at Edwin Moak Field. Oxford’s victory over the Titans in the second game, as well as the first contest on Thursday night against the defending 5A champions, was led by the hitting of junior Parker Adamson. The junior first baseman hit three home runs in the series, including two solo shots in Game 2. He also drove in the game-tying run in the contest in the bottom of the seventh and finished the night with three RBIs a night after having four in the Chargers’ 11-7 win at Ridgeland.
Here is an inteview with Adamson following Friday night’s win that sent the Chargers on to the next round against either Hernando or Saltillo. For more on the Chargers’ big win, see Monday’s Sports section.
