NAHS eliminates Lady ‘Dores from postseason

New Albany’s most productive offensive day in Division 2-4A play ended up costing the Lafayette Lady Commodores a spot in the upcoming Class 4A playoffs.

The Lady Bulldogs pounded out 17 hits against two LHS pitchers en route to a 15-9 win Friday evening at LHS. It was the first meeting between the two teams in a game that was supposed to be played April 3 but was pushed back due to rain.

New Albany (12-10 overall, 2-3 in 2-4A) never trailed in the contest as it scored five runs in the top of the first inning against LHS starter Kelsey Kesler. Two runs were provided by the bat of Amber Mirfield, who hit a two-run homer to left field, while a double by Lauren Cavender and a single by Shannon Goode also drove in runs. (April 16, 2012, Page 9)
