Former Commodore leads Lumberton to series win

Lafayette’s current group of Commodores weren’t the only ones who smashed their opponent in the opening round of the MHSAA baseball playoffs this past weekend. Former LHS standout Shane Brown coached the Lumberton Panthers to a sweep of Eupora in the opening round of the Class 2A playoffs. Lumberton won the opener 8-2 and then wrapped up the series with an impressive 18-5 win over the Eagles on Saturday.

Logan Crider led Lumberton’s offense in the series by batting .800 with three runs scored and three RBIs.

Lumberton, which is the No. 2 seed out of Division 5-2A, now takes on Division 7 winner Enterprise-Lincoln in the next round that begins on Thursday. (April 24, 2012, Page 10)
