Lafayette’s opponent in the next round of the MHSAA’s Class 4A playoffs is not an unknown to the Commodores, especially older members of the team.
The Commodores will take on the Amory Panthers in the best-of-three series starting Thursday night at AHS. Amory and Lafayette met in the playoffs two seasons ago, a very competitive series that the Panthers ending up winning 2-1 en route to winning the 4A North Half title and playing in Pearl for a state title.
LHS seniors Tyler Mize and Luke Stanley were sophomores on that 2010 team and remember what it felt like to lose to the Panthers, who were led by standout pitcher Will Cox. (April 25, 2012, Page 6)
