Chargers explode on Titans in series opener

RIDGELAND — Oxford’s most explosive offensive inning of the season couldn’t have come at a better time. Down 4-2 to Ridgeland, the defending Class 5A champions, at Titan Field, the Chargers rallied by scoring seven runs in the top of the sixth inning to take a 9-4 lead, their first of the game.
Oxford went on to hold a shocked group of Titans in place the rest of the way and earn an 11-5 win in the first game of a best-of-three 5A playoff series that continues tonight at Oxford’s Edwin Moak Field at 6. (April 27, 2012, Page 6A)
