Blue Devils to honor military Saturday

The Water Valley baseball team is giving back to the community and members of the armed forces who help protect the United States through three games at Blue Devil Field. Water Valley hosts Starkville and South Panola Saturday and in doing so, the team will wear camouflage hats and uniforms that will than be sold to fans who wish to purchase them.

Water Valley coach Kary Bridges said the team is planning to give back to the soldiers from the local National Guard outpost located in Water Valley by sending care packages to them once they arrive in Afghanistan later this year. Members of the military, both former or current, as well their families will be admitted free to the three-game slate that also includes a contest between South Panola and Starkville.

Action begins with Water Valley taking on Starkville 11 a.m. Proceeds from ticket sales will also go to the purchase of a new concession stand at the stadium. (April 13, 2012, Page 7A)
