Rebels’ Kennedy linked to opening at UAB

UAB’s search for a new head men’s basketball coach could end up impacting Ole Miss. Shortly after Mike Davis was relieved of his duties as the Blazers’ coach  Friday morning by UAB Athletics Director Brian Mackin, candidates to serve as his replacement quickly surfaced.

Ole Miss coach Andy Kennedy was at the top of the media’s list, both regionally and nationally, due to his long-standing connection with UAB. Kennedy played for legendary UAB coach Gene Bartow from 1988-1991 after transferring from N.C. State.

Kennedy also got his coaching career off the ground in Alabama starting off at South Alabama in 1994 and then serving five years as an assistant at UAB before moving on to Cincinnati. (March 19, 2012, Page 7)
