No. 14 Rebels earn three-game sweep

It’s safe to say nobody saw this weekend coming.

Did the No. 14 Ole Miss Rebels expect to claim their final non-conference series?

Of course.

Were the Rebels hoping for a clean weekend in the field, an efficient three games from the pitchers and an aggressive series at the plate?

You bet.

What transpired, however, no one could have predicted.

With a mid-week series at Louisville all that remains between Ole Miss and its Southeastern Conference opener against Auburn, the Rebels completed their sweep of the visiting Houston Cougars in convincing fashion.

After defeating the Cougars 8-0 on Friday and 9-0 on Saturday, the Rebels completed the sweep by claiming an 11-3 victory on Sunday at Oxford-University Stadium.

The series was easily Ole Miss’ best three-day span of the season as they scored a season-high 28 runs.
Ole Miss also played three consecutive days of errorless baseball for the first time in 2012. (March 12, 2012, Page 1B)
