Today, the Rebels will look to get back on track against the Redhawks with a 12:30 p.m. start.SHAKING IT UP: Due to Will Allen fracturing the pinky finger on his throwing hand, freshman catcher Austin Knight will make his first career start for the Rebels. Knight made his debut on Wednesday against Jackson State and caught two innings Friday against the Redhawks. Junior catcher Kody Sepulveda hit for Knight on Friday and will serve as the freshman’s backup today.

OLE MISS 3, Miami (Ohio) 0 (B1): The Rebels took out some frustrations from Friday night in the first inning today, scoring three runs on two hits. After Tanner Mathis and Senquez Golson led off the game with a HBP and single, Alex Yarbrough scored them with a double to right field. Yarbrough later scored the Rebels’ third run on a wild pitch from starter Brooks Fiala.
OLE MISS 6, Miami (Ohio) 0 (B2): Designated hitter Zach Kirksey rewarded Rebel coach Mike Bianco for starting him by leading off the bottom of the second with a moonshot homer over the right field wall. Austin Knight‘s single up the middle, coupled with a fielding error by the Redhawk right fielder, scored Austin Anderson. Knight later scored on a groundout by Golson.
OLE MISS 7, Miami (Ohio) 0 (B5): Kirksey added to Ole Miss’ lead in the fifth with an RBI-single that scored Mistone from second.
OLE MISS 9, Miami (Ohio) 0 (B7): Kirksey’s sacrifice fly pushed Ole Miss’ lead to 8-0. Two at-bats later, Knight scored Mistone with his second single of the day.
Ole Miss 9, MIAMI (OHIO) 1 (T8): The Redhawks ended the shutout in the eighth when left fielder Bryce Redeker scored on a double from first baseman Kevin Bower.
OLE MISS 11, Miami (Ohio) 1 (B8): Pinch hitting for Mistone, John Gatlin scored Yarbrough and Preston Overbey with a double.
Ole Miss 11, MIAMI (OHIO) 3 (T9): Redhawks second baseman Ryan Brenner tacked on two more runs in the losing effort in the ninth off of left-hander Jon Andy Scott with a two-out single.
BY THE NUMBERS: Ole Miss right-hander R.J. Hively improved to 2-0 on the year after pitching six scoreless innings. Hively allowed two hits and one walk while striking out six… Miami (Ohio) starter Brooks Fiala took the loss, allowing six runs in 1.2 innings… Knight went 2-for-4 at the plate with a run scored and an RBI in his first start for the Rebels… Mathis and Yarbrough led Ole Miss with three hits, while Kirksey had a team-best three RBIs.
