LHS tennis falls in close match to New Albany

Lafayette fell to New Albany 4-2 at the courts beyond Oxford-University Stadium on Thursday. The match originally started March 8 but was suspended due to rain. Lauren Cullen picked up the girls singles point with a 3-6, 6-3 (1-0) victory).

Barron Pruitt and Ashley Smith picked up Lafayette’s second point by claiming a 6-0, 6-1 victory in mixed doubles. Brett Bowen lost the boys singles point 6-0, 6-0.

Jacob Roberts and Hunter Knight lost lost the No. 1 boys doubles point 5-7, 7-5 (1-0), and Garrett Reed and Nathan Hollis lost the No. 2 boys doubles point 6-2, 6-1.

Mallory Davis and Brittany Mann dropped the No. 1 girls doubles point 6-3, 6-2, while Abbey Pate and Kathryn Owen dropped the No. 2 girls doubles point 6-0, 6-3.

Lafyatte returns to the court Saturday to participate in the East Mississippi Tournament in Meridian. (March 30, 2012, Page 9A)
