Keeping it simple is paying off for Kirksey

Last season was one Zach Kirksey would rather forget.The highly-touted junior college transfer hit just .192 in 52 at-bats and was never able to take over a fulltime role in left field for the Rebels.
Things didn’t improve during the summer when Kirksey hit .111 in 72 at-bats for the Peninsula Oilers of the Alaska Baseball league.
Kirksey’s struggles required him to re-evaluate his approach, and with the help of new hitting coach Cliff Godwin, the West Monroe, La., native is off to a fast start in 2012. (March 2, 2012, Page 7A)
