WVHS baseball gets off to tough start

Water Valley’s baseball team got its 2012 season off to a slow start Saturday dropping two games in New Albany’s tournament.

WVHS lost to Pontotoc 4-1 in the season opener before losing to Ripley 16-1 in five innings. Cody Greer and Chris Wilson were saddled with the losses.

Sophomore catcher Taylor Smith had two hits against PHS and the Blue Devils’ only hit against RHS. The Blue Devils have a chance to get back in the win column today as they host M.S. Palmer in a varsity only game at 4 p.m. (February 27, 2012, Page 2B)
