Ole Miss sophomore right-hander Bobby Wahl was named the Southeastern Conference’s Co-Pitcher of the week on Monday.
Wahl improved to 2-0 on the year Friday by pitching seven scoreless innings in Ole Miss 2-0 victory over UNC-Wilmington.
In the win, Wahl struck out a career-high nine batters while only allowing one hit and two walks.
The shutout win was the first for the No. 16 Rebels since an 8-0 victory at Tennessee on March 27, 2011.
The two-hit performance also marked the fewest hits the Ole Miss pitching staff — left-hander Dylan Chavez and right-hander Brett Huber pitched the eighth and ninth — allowed since holding Kentucky to two hits on March 19, 2010. (February 28, 2012, Page 9)
