A split in middle school softball action between Lafayette and Oxford at the Charger Classic Friday evening was secondary to the valuable playing time and experience earned on the field for the two teams.
In the first action of the year for the two first-year programs, the goal of playing against somebody else and working out some kinks was gained in the two, one-hour contests.
Oxford won the first game of the doubleheader 11-7 while Lafayette took the second game 13-7. Lafayette won the junior varsity meeting between OHS and LHS 13-0 to cap the night. (February 27, 2012, Page 3B)
