OHS makes quick work of Grenada

The Oxford tennis team got its season off to a great start on Monday, sweeping the visiting Grenada Chargers 7-0 at Avent Park.

Baxter Elliott defeated Tayler Haymes 6-4, 6-0 in the boys singles match, while Ann Marie Edlin knocked off Rachel Braswell 4-6, 6-2 (10-7) to claim the girls singles point.

In the No. 1 boys doubles match, Robert Nance and Andrew Mullins combined to defeat Guy Braswell and Winston Lee 6-1, 6-4, while Will Swindoll and Quinn Elliott teamed up to defeat Tanner Aldridge and Chase Holland 6-4, 6-1 in the No. 2 boys doubles match.

In the No. 1 girls doubles match, Kara Rose and Embrey Inman defeated Alexandra Brasher and Abby Vance 6-3, 6-0, while Sarah Nash and McClellan Davis cruised past Sarah Kate Griffin and Cassie Bennett 6-0, 6-3.

In the mixed doubles match, John Arlis Williams and Cari Hansen defeated Marty Gilliland and Etta Jennings 6-3, 6-0.
