Horned Frogs jump on Rebs to earn split

FORT WORTH, Texas — Depending on your perspective, it’s been a somewhat difficult couple of months for baseball fans in the Fort Worth, Texas, area.

In October, the Texas Rangers entered the World Series as a favorite for the second consecutive year only to lose to the St. Louis Cardinals in seven games.

On Friday, No. 15 TCU led No. 22 Ole Miss in the 2012 season opener for all of one frame, causing one fan above the Horned Frogs dugout to exclaim “Come on! It’s like watching the Rangers all over again!” as the Rebels extended their lead during the seventh inning of the 7-4 win at Lupton Stadium.

After getting rained out on Saturday, the Horned Frogs made their fans feel a bit better Sunday by holding off the Rebels to claim a 5-3 victory and a series split. (February 20, 2012, Page 2B)
