Ole Miss’ best effort of the Southeastern Conference season wasn’t enough to upset No. 13 Tennessee on Sunday afternoon at C.M. “Tad” Smith Coliseum.
Despite a great shooting effort from behind the 3-point arc and 21 points from Valencia McFarland, the Lady Rebels fell to the Lady Volunteers 66-56.
Ole Miss (12-15 overall, 2-12 SEC) went 8-for-12 from behind the 3-point arc in the loss, while McFarland scored the Lady Rebels’ first nine points on 3-pointers.
Despite that kind of shooting performance from deep, Tennessee’s size and strength ended up trumping Ole Miss’ speed and an effort that coach Renee Ladner couldn’t find fault with. (February 20, 2012, Page 3B)
