Pitchers lead No. 20 Rebs past Seahawks

BLOG: Hello from sunny (and breezy) Oxford, Miss., the site of this weekend’s three-game set between the UNC-Wilmington Seahawks and the No. 20 Ole Miss Rebels.

First pitch today is set for 3 p.m.

The Seahawks (2-2) enter this weekend’s series having taken two of three from the Ohio Bobcats to open the season and lost a lopsided 10-0 game at N.C. State on Tuesday.

The Rebels (2-1) split with Texas Christian University last weekend and beat up on the visiting Arkansas State Red Wolves on Tuesday.

Ole Miss will return to its right-handed weekend rotation of sophomore Bobby Wahl (1-0; 3.60 ERA) today, senior R.J. Hively (0-0; 4.50) on Saturday and sophomore Mike Mayers (0-1; 4.50) on Sunday.

The Seahawks will counter with a weekend rotation of left-handed redshirt sophomore Mat Batts (0-0; 1.29) today, sophomore left-hander Tyler DeLoach (0-0; 5.40) on Saturday and freshman right-hander Jordan Ramsey (0-0; 0.00) on Sunday.

ADDING A GAME: Because the Rebels’ Saturday game at TCU was rained out, Ole Miss has added a “fan appreciation game” against Jackson State to its schedule for Feb. 29.

The game is set for a 6:30 p.m. start and admission is free.
