Baughman: OHS should be fine with new bats

The way Oxford head coach Chris Baughman looks at it, this may have been the perfect year for high school teams to implement the new BBCOR bats that college players swung last year.

The bats high schools used last year allowed for more pop when ball met bat.

This year’s model more closely resembles wood, which means power numbers are expected to dip in the high school ranks like they did in college a year ago.

And, for the most part, Baughman is OK with that because of the skill-set his players posses. (February 23, 2012, Page 7)
