No. 14 Gators rally late to top Rebels

Thursday night’s Southeastern Conference matchup with No. 14 Florida was a tale of two halves for the Ole Miss Rebels.

Everything that could go right for the Rebels did in the first 20 minutes of action at C.M. “Tad” Smith Coliseum.

They hit shots at an exceptional rate, got rebounds on both ends of the floor and did a great job of slowing down the SEC’s top offense to the tune of 28 points. But as good as the Rebels were in the opening half, the Gators proved to be that much better when it counted down the stretch. (more…) (January 27, 2012, Page 6A)

          NECC Tigers glove Stanley’s signature

Having one of the best gloves in the North Mississippi area has resulted in a scholarship and a spot on the Northeast Mississippi Community College baseball team for Lafayette’s Luke Stanley.

The standout senior has been considered one of the better middle infielders around for a while and his play for the Commodores, and his summer league team, garnered him an offer from NECC. Stanley turned that offer into a guarantee when he signed to play for coach Kent Farris and former Lafayette coach Richy Harrelson, who raved about Stanley’s overall ability. (January 27, 2012, Page 6A)
