      No. 14 Gators rally late to top Rebels

      Thursday night’s Southeastern Conference matchup with No. 14 Florida was a tale of two halves for the Ole Miss Rebels.

      Everything that could go right for the Rebels did in the first 20 minutes of action at C.M. “Tad” Smith Coliseum.

      They hit shots at an exceptional rate, got rebounds on both ends of the floor and did a great job of slowing down the SEC’s top offense to the tune of 28 points.         Oxford teams set to face familiar opponent in SHS

        The coaching staffs of the Oxford soccer teams didn’t have to do a lot of additional scouting heading into Saturday’s Class 5A second-round matchup against Starkville.

          Scholtz shines in OM debut

          The wait is finally over.

          And boy was it worth it.

          On Thursday, Ole Miss freshman Nik Scholtz made his highly-anticipated debut in front of a near capacity crowd at the Gillom Sports Center.

          Scholtz didn’t disappoint at the No. 1 spot for the Rebels, defeating Southern Miss’ Matt Frost 6-2, 6-3. (January 27, 2012, Page 7A)

                  Williams re-trial set for summer

                  The murder trial for David Jackson Williams has been continued until summer.
                  In a pre-trial hearing Jan. 11, Circuit Court Judge Andrew Howorth continued the trial until July 30, according to court records. (January 26, 2012, Page 2)

                    Kiwanis, county gifts help save life of LHS athlete

                    In 2008, the Oxford Kiwanis Club made it a goal to eventually have at least one automated external defibrillator in every school in Oxford and Lafayette County. However, they had hoped no one would ever have to use them. (January 26, 2012, Page 1)
