    Improved effort not enough to top UF

    Four days after challenging her team to play with better toughness for 40 minutes, Renee Ladner’s Lady Rebels played Florida down to the final buzzer.

      LHS football banquet on Thursday

      Lafayette’s football team will hold its banquet Thursday night at 6 in the high school commons. Cost of a ticket is $15 and they can be purchased at the high school during business hours. (January 6, 2012, Page 7A)

        Oxford tops North Panola in hoops

        Oxford’s eighth-grade basketball teams earned two wins over North Panola Thursday. The Lady Chargers won 27-3 thanks to 11 points from Kayla Malone, 10 from Emma Schultz and four points from Omaya Pegues. The Chargers won 47-38 to improve to 13-2 on the year. Jack Abraham came off the bench to score 12 points. He sparked the team off the bench with four made free throws and two 3-pointers. Korbin Harmon scored 12 points, while Kyree White had 11. All four middle school teams returned to action tonight at Coldwater starting with the seventh-grade girls game at 5. (January 6, 2012, Page 7A)
