Oxonian/author Julie Cantrell (gracing the OT cover) is having her first novel published next week (Feb. 1) and Off Square Books is hosting a launch party on Tuesday, Jan. 31, at 5 featuring Cantrell, champagne and chocolate – NICE!; OT editor Jeff McVay takes a final sneak peek at the 2012 lineup for the Oxford Music Festival set to begin Feb. 9; a Chinese ceramic art exhibit titled “On the Silk Road and the High Seas” is showing at the University Museum and a lecture by Virginia L. Bower is planned for 7 p.m. Jan. 26; Internationally acclaimed operatic soprano Kallen Esperian will be featured in a concert at the Gertrude Ford Center on Jan. 30 at 7 p.m.; Oxford Town gives an early heads up about a fantastic concert headed to Proud Larry’s in March – the Alabama Shakes; and the Oxford Film Freak (Melanie Addington) begins her pre-coverage of the 2012 Oxford Film Festival set (also) for Feb. 9 at the Malco Studio Cinema.
